What is Foraging (An Urban Guide)?
An informational magazine about foraging in urban areas and surrounding settings. This magazine wants to highlight the various benefits foraging has on the individual and the surrounding community and how its affected civilizations in the past. In this issue, readers will find articles discussing the history, benefits, and reasons for foraging as well as guided lists on what to look out for while foraging in the real world.
Research
The magazines demographic consisted of individuals who were interested in foraging and the outdoors. The information and topics within covered everything from the history of foraging, to the modern day practice, highlighting the cultural benefit foraging has on us.

The overall feeling of the magazine, with a focus on an organic and modern design.

Research for the layout focused on simple yet dynamic elements that flowed well together.

In contrast with a toned down layout, the illustration aimed to be bright and fun, with a 70’s psychedelic inspired vibe.

Much like the layout, the photography was intended to stay simple and organic, sticking mainly to black and white images with a leaning towards nature and humanity.

Finally I came up with a baseline flat plan indicating where imagery and text would be laid out and how many columns would be used.
Execution
A process of week by week feedback shaped the final magazine layouts. Ultimately, consistency and simplicity was key in the design process.
